I’ve recently been using paper-cutting as a tool for working out designs for new S.P.E.W campaign banners.

My first few quilted banners were comprised of text only but paper-cutting is proving to be a really useful prototyping tool for developing imagery to incorporate into these designs. It provides a much quicker and more agile approach to testing out the composition and design of the imagery.

The images below demonstrate how a successful paper-cut poster was eventually translated into a quilted protest banner with a few minor adjustments.
